Minimally invasive spondylosyndesis

Minimally invasive spondylosyndesis of the spine is a sensible supplement to open access, particularly
with purely stabilising operations with no need for decompression from behind.

Under x-ray guidance, wires are first introduced via tiny punctures and then the wires can be used to
move the screws into place. After determining the exact positions of the screws, a longitudinal bar is
introduced and joined to the screws. With regard to soft tissue damage, the method is vastly superior
to the conventional open technique and shows comparable results in follow-up examinations. However,
this operating technique is not always applicable.
